In a program of music by composers active in the Theresienstatdt concentration camp, and who perished during the Holocaust, Norway’s Ullern Kammerkor (Chamber Choir), conducted by Gjermund Brenne, will premiere the “Prayers for Fellow Prisoners,” by Kristian Hernes set to text by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The Norwegian Ambassador to the United Nations, Geir O. Pedersen, will introduce the program at the concert.

In addition to the New York premiere of ”Prayers for Fellow Prisoners,” the program will include Pavel Haas’s “Four Songs on Chinese Poetry” (1944); Gideon Klein’s “Piano Sonata (1943), and his Das Angenehme in dieser Welt” and Spruch: Stosset an! (both 1944); “Hal’a, Jarden” a work from Victor Ullmann’s Two Chassidich for women’s voices, and two of the the composer’s Hebrew settings, “Anu olim” and “Eliajahu hanawi.” In addition, the concert will include two works by Kurt Weill, who escaped his native Germany, fleeing to Paris and then the United States, ”Die Legende vom toten Soldaten’ (1929) and ”Kiddush” (1946).
